Minister responsible for School Buildings visits SGS Forest High School

Today marks an important step forward for SGS Forest High School. I welcomed Stephen Morgan MP, the Minister responsible for School Buildings, along with Department for Education officials and local school leaders, to discuss the need for a new school building.

For too long, the previous Conservative government neglected schools like Forest High, allowing buildings to deteriorate instead of investing in their future. Thanks to the dedication of the new headteacher, Mrs. Mooney, education at the school has improved significantly, but students and staff deserve better facilities that match their ambition.

Labour is committed to putting this right. Now, with a government that takes responsibility, we are working towards a solution to secure a new building—one that provides a modern, high-quality learning environment that our young people deserve.

I look forward to hearing back from the Department for Education with their proposals and will keep you updated on progress.

Stephen Morgan MP has also provided a short statement which adds "This Labour Government is delivering its Plan for Change with investment and reform to deliver growth, putting more jobs, more money in people’s pockets and getting the NHS back on its feet."
