Thousands of cancer patients will see faster treatment thanks to new radiotherapy machines.

I’m pleased to share that Gloucestershire NHS Hospital Trust is included in the government’s rollout of new, state-of-the-art radiotherapy machines—helping to deliver faster, more effective cancer treatment for patients across our area.

These upgrades are part of our commitment to rebuild our NHS and get patients the care they need, when they need it and I am proud that we are delivering real improvements for our community.

Patients have had to wait longer and longer for vital tests due to dated and old machinery. Labour promised to improve services within the NHS and as well as shorter waiting lists, we are now providing better equipment to our hospitals.

As the Health Minister Karin Smyth put it:

“Every day spent waiting for cancer treatment is a day of added worry — we will ease that.”
