Patients across our region – including here in the Forest of Dean – will soon benefit from faster, better emergency care.
71 brand-new ambulances for the South West, backed by a £10.6 million investment – and nearly 500 across England
A total of almost £450 million to improve urgent and emergency care nationwide
This major new plan will help cut A&E waiting times, reduce pressure on hospitals, and shift more care into the community. It includes:
Around 40 new Same Day Emergency Care and Urgent Treatment Centres – helping patients be treated and discharged the same day
Up to 15 new mental health crisis centres – offering timely, specialist support in the right setting
No one should be left waiting for hours in a hospital corridor or for an ambulance that should arrive in minutes.
We can’t undo more than a decade of underinvestment overnight – but these measures are an important step towards faster, more convenient emergency care.
Good news for the Forest of Dean – and for patients across the South West.
