My team and I have spoken with National Highways today and raised the concerns regarding the temporary traffic lights many of you reported earlier this week.
National Highways has confirmed that any temporary traffic lights currently being seen alongside the A40 bridge works are not their responsibility. However, it is worth noting that utility companies do have the ability and authority to introduce temporary traffic lights where necessary, particularly when they need to attend sites in the area to carry out essential works. This means that temporary lights may sometimes appear without prior notification, but will not be the responsibility of National Highways.
National Highways have confirmed that if they themselves need to make any changes to the traffic management arrangements or introduce temporary lights, they will notify me and my office in advance wherever possible. They have also agreed to keep me informed at the earliest opportunity so that I can relay any information to local residents.
Please continue to get in touch with me or my office with any other concerns, and I will continue to raise them on your behalf.
I update my WhatsApp Channel on this issue regularly, so please join https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb8Bn5cHbFV2lbUiNf2U
