It was great to be part of Armed Forces Community Day in Cinderford on Sunday, organised by the brilliant team at the Royal British Legion Cinderford Branch.
My casework team and I hosted a stall, meeting lots of local residents throughout the day. It was great to speak with veterans, stallholders, and community members—each with their own stories and reflections that brought home just how strong our Armed Forces connections are here in the Forest of Dean.
We’re a community that values service and sacrifice. That was clear in every conversation I had. Whether it was veterans sharing their experiences, or families talking about loved ones who serve, the respect and appreciation ran deep.
As your MP, I believe those values should be backed up with real action. That’s why I’m proud that this Government has:
Delivered the biggest Armed Forces pay rise in over 20 years
Invested £1.5 billion to improve military housing
Fully enshrined the Armed Forces Covenant in law—ensuring fairness for veterans and service families
Committed to a 30% expansion of cadet forces, giving 42,000 more young people the opportunity to grow in confidence and skills
Our Armed Forces represent the very best of Britain. They go above and beyond to keep us safe—and they deserve nothing less than our full support in return.
Across the Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire, there were fantastic events throughout Armed Forces Week, each one bringing people together to s
how their appreciation. A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise and took part.
And most importantly, to all who serve and have served—thank you.
