Question to the Under-Secretary for Health and Social Care, Ashley Dalton MP

Today, in the chamber, I asked the Under-Secretary for Health and Social Care, Ashley Dalton MP, to consider a dedicated national support pathway for parent carers, including better access to counselling and respite.

I am setting up an APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) alongside Harry’s Pals to work together to bring about the support parent carers need and deserve when their child has a life-threatening or life-limiting illness.

I am really pleased that the Under-Secretary for Health and Social Care, Ashley Dalton MP, agreed to meet with me and the founder of Harry’s Pals, Hayley, to discuss support for those families both nationally and in the Forest of Dean.

I am committed to ensuring families receive the emotional and statutory support they need when a child becomes unwell, and this is a significant and positive step forward to achieving that.
