NHS TEN YEAR HEALTH PLAN

Health Secretary Wes Streeting has launched Labour’s long-term plan to rebuild our NHS and make it fit for the future.
After years of decline under the Conservatives, the NHS was in a critical condition. Too many people couldn’t get a GP or dental appointment. A&E waits were dangerously long. Staff were exhausted, and outcomes for serious conditions lagged behind other countries.
Labour’s plan will change that — by bringing care closer to people’s homes, making better use of digital technology, and focusing on prevention rather than just treatment. It also tackles the deep health inequalities that have hit places like the Forest of Dean hard.
We are already making progress: waiting lists are falling, millions of extra appointments have been delivered, and thousands more doctors and mental health staff are in place. But this is just the beginning.
Neighbourhood Health Services will bring care into communities — including diagnostics, mental health support, and rehab — all under one roof, open evenings and weekends. That’s exactly the kind of practical change people in the Forest of Dean constituency want to see.
I will continue to follow this closely and keep residents updated on how the plan will benefit the Forest of Dean.
