What a momentous day for English sport! A huge congratulations to England Women for winning the Rugby World Cup — what a performance.

I especially want to give a special shoutout to the outstanding players from Gloucester-Hartpury, based in our Forest of Dean, who’ve played their part in this victory. Your hard work, commitment, and skill have made us all so proud.

You are role models to young girls and boys across the country, showing exactly what’s possible through teamwork, determination, and belief.

This win is a testament not just to talent, but to the strength of women’s sport in this country — and I hope that today’s achievement inspires a new generation of young athletes everywhere to reach for that same trophy.
