Appointed to Crime and Policing Bill Committee

I’m pleased to have been appointed to the 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 in Parliament.

This Bill is a crucial step in tackling serious issues like knife crime, domestic abuse, child exploitation, and antisocial behaviour. It empowers police officers to act swiftly and efficiently, strengthens support for victims, and ensures justice is served.

As a rural constituency, the Forest of Dean faces unique challenges when it comes to policing and crime prevention. This Bill will address those needs, providing much-needed support to ensure our rural communities are not left behind in the fight against crime.

This Bill comes as part of the Labour government's commitment to halving knife crime and reducing violence against women and girls over the next decade.

As a member of the committee, I’ll be scrutinising this bill line by line, working alongside other MPs to gather evidence, hear from witnesses, and ensure that it will have the greatest possible impact for all. I’m committed to ensuring this Bill delivers tangible benefits to both the Forest of Dean and nationally.
