The Victoria Centre Lydney
I recently visited the Victoria Centre in Lydney to meet the team and hear about all the community-focused work they are doing to support older people across the Forest of Dean.
Nearly 50 years after the management committee received the keys in 1977, the Victoria Centre is a powerful example of what community partnership and volunteer commitment can achieve.
The Centre offers a warm, welcoming and friendly space, providing meals and social contact for the local elderly community.
Through home-cooked meals and a place to connect and make new friends, the Victoria Centre plays a vital role in helping to prevent social isolation and exclusion.
What they offer:
Meals three times a week
The team prepares, cooks and serves meals every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
A safe and warm space
A safe, warm and welcoming environment where everyone can feel comfortable and at home.
A social necessity
The Centre brings together hundreds of diners every week, providing opportunities for social interaction, friendship and enjoyment.
Venue for hire
The Victoria Centre is also available to hire for a wide range of social and community events.
