The Final Debate 2026: Mock Parliament

Wow. The final debate, marking the completion of Mock Parliament 2026, took place last night at the District Council Chamber, bringing together students from all six secondary schools across the Forest of Dean.

The event was a huge success, and every student involved should be immensely proud of what they have achieved—as I certainly am.

From our first session together months ago to the confidence on display in the final debate, these students have truly excelled and shown the exceptional talent we have here in the Forest of Dean.

They drew on everything they’ve learned about parliamentary procedure and etiquette, using that foundation to deliver thoughtful, well-researched speeches from both government and opposition benches.

This programme has been incredibly valuable—not just for the students, but for the schools involved and for me personally. It is only the beginning of what I hope will be many more opportunities like this.

I am committed to ensuring young people across the constituency know the strength of their voice—and feel empowered to use it.

Seeing these young people step forward with such courage, confidence, and maturity has been a real highlight since being elected. Thank you to everyone who made it possible.
