Support for Great Oaks

Updated: Sep 11

Fantastic news for Great Oaks Hospice and End-of-Life Care in the Forest of Dean!

Labour's £75 million funding boost for hospices—the biggest investment of its kind—will help transform end-of-life care for families and individuals across the country, including right here in the Forest of Dean.

I’m delighted that Great Oaks Hospice will receive a total of £74,748 from the Government. Nationally, the funding is intended to carry out essential upgrades—improving family rooms and communal lounges, and providing adapted equipment—so that patients and their loved ones receive the highest quality care in a more comfortable, dignified environment.

Having met with Joe Feeley, CEO of Great Oaks, and spoken with staff and volunteers at recent community events, I know just how much this hospice means to local families. Many of us have been—or will be—touched by the incredible work of Great Oaks. Their care, compassion, and dedication are second to none, and I hope this funding will make a real difference to the work they do.

This is a clear example of how Labour’s Plan for Change is making a impact in our communities—bringing care closer to home, where people need it most.
