Save Forest High

For far too long, the students and staff at Forest High School have been failed.
Successive years of delay, uncertainty and inaction have left young people and teachers trying to achieve their very best in conditions that simply are not good enough. No-one has done enough over the past years for the students and staff of Forest High School. It is right that we now change this.
Our children should not be expected to learn in buildings where serious concerns continue to exist around safety and infrastructure. Our teachers and support staff should not have to battle the condition of the site itself just to deliver lessons and support pupils every single day.
We need a new building that allows staff to focus on students — not leaking roofs, failing infrastructure or concerns about the condition of the school estate.
Because this is about more than bricks and mortar. This is about belief.
I believe in the students of Forest High School. I believe in their potential, their ambition and their future. While others have talked down this school or accepted decline, I will not. Who is talking up their chances? Well I am.
I want every child at Forest High School to receive a first-class education in a safe, modern and inspiring environment, so they can become whatever they aspire to be — whether that is a doctor, engineer, police officer, teacher, entrepreneur or anything else they dream of.
Young people in Cinderford and the Forest of Dean deserve the same opportunities as children anywhere else in this country. They deserve investment. They deserve ambition. And they deserve a Government willing to back them.
This is not about politics. It is about fairness, opportunity and basic dignity for the young people of Cinderford and the Forest of Dean.
That is why I am backing this petition and calling on the Government to urgently approve funding for a brand new Forest High School building before another generation of students are asked to settle for less than they deserve.
