Richard's Story: Glioblastoma

ree

Yesterday, I spent some time with Richard and his wife, Helen. Many of you will have heard my question in Parliament highlighting Richard’s story. Diagnosed with Glioblastoma in 2018 and given just six months to live, Richard continues to defy the odds.

His resilience and strength in the face of such an aggressive form of cancer are nothing short of inspirational.

During our time together, I was pleased to present him with a copy of the official record of the day I raised his story in the House of Commons. Produced by Hansard, this document captures—word for word—everything spoken in the chamber on that day. Richard’s name is now recorded in the official record of Parliament as part of an incredibly important conversation about a disease that affects far too many people.

Both personally and professionally, I remain committed to supporting Richard’s cause. His determination to leave behind a legacy that leads to improved treatments for others is admirable.

I will continue to support Richard and Helen on both a professional and personal basis. Together, we will keep pushing for greater awareness, more research, and better outcomes for those facing Glioblastoma.
