Meeting phlebotomists from Gloucestershire Hospital

ree

Yesterday, Simon Opher for Stroud and I met with the striking phlebotomists from Gloucestershire Hospitals, who have now been on strike for over 70 days.

They are campaigning to be re-banded from Band 2 to Band 3 of the NHS pay scale – a change that reflects the skill, responsibility, and complexity of their work. Phlebotomists play a crucial role in diagnosis, treatment, and patient care by safely drawing blood samples.

It was important for me to hear directly from them about why they are striking. I appreciate their concerns and understand the reasons behind their industrial action. I have committed to helping facilitate further discussions between the phlebotomists and the hospital leadership in Gloucestershire.
