Launch of my new All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG)

I am proud to say that, alongside Harry’s Pals, yesterday saw the launch of my new All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) focused on securing emotional support for parents and carers of children with life-limiting or life-changing conditions.

APPGs bring MPs and Lords from across Parliament together to shine a light on issues that too often fall through the cracks — gathering evidence, listening to experts and families, and pushing for real, lasting change.

When a child becomes seriously ill, families are often left to navigate complex services alone, while coming to terms with the reality of a devastating diagnosis.

Alongside Harry’s Pals, we are pushing for statutory emotional support for parents at the moment their worlds are turned upside down — support that should be there as a matter of course, not something families have to fight for.

I am working hard to ensure parent carers and families receive the emotional and practical support they need and deserve. This APPG is an important and positive step forward, and I am determined to make sure real change reaches every family who needs it here in the Forest of Dean and beyond.
