Every Child Deserves a Safe, Well-Equipped School

Today I raised the case for SGS Forest High School in Cinderford directly with the Chancellor. I was pleased with the Chancellor's response in ensuring the Secretary of State for Education will look into this case.
I believe that every child—no matter their background—deserves the chance to thrive in a safe, well-equipped school. That’s why I welcomed the Chancellor’s commitments in the Spending Review, including £2.3 billion a year to improve school buildings and a further £2.4 billion annually for the rebuilding programme.
Now though, it is vital to ensure that funding reaches the schools that need it most.
Securing a new building for Forest High School is one of my top priorities as an MP. As I reported back in April, I was pleased to welcome the Minister responsible for School Buildings Stephen Morgan to the school, and I know the Department for Education (DfE) is working to secure the necessary capital funding. I look forward to seeing progress on this important decision.
In addition to raising this directly with the Chancellor today, I will also be writing to the DfE to press for urgent action. Rebuilding Forest High would show that this government is serious about turning investment into real change—and I’ll keep fighting to make that happen.
